Shattered HeartEdit This Entity
The statue consists of 30 pieces which can be obtained in 15 different ways:
- Completing full laps in agility courses with the Agility skill.
- Harvesting or planting crops, herbs, or flowers with the Farming skill. This includes harvesting fruit trees.
- Catching creatures with falconry, tracking, deadfall traps, box trapping, or Charm sprite hunting with the Hunter skill.
- Mining for any ore, clay, or mining other rocks with the Mining skill. It is possible to mine concentrated coal and gold deposits as well as rune essence for Strange rocks.
- Building furniture in building mode or flatpack items in a house belonging to either yourself or another player using the Construction skill.
- Burning any logs with a Tinderbox with the Firemaking skill.
- Fishing with any net, cage, or harpoon with the Fishing skill.
- Chopping any tree, Choking ivy, or doing the Sawmill activity with the Woodcutting skill.
- Crafting any runes at any altar with the Runecrafting skill. The ZMI altar also yields Strange rocks.
- Mixing secondary ingredients into unfinished potions or cleaning herbs with the Herblore skill. Serum 207 does NOT work.
- Cooking any fish with the Cooking skill.
- Pickpocketing any NPC, thieving from stalls, or looting chests with the Thieving skill.
- Fletching unstrung bows or crossbow stocks with the Fletching skill.
- Smelting ores into bars, smithing bars into items, or making Cannonballs with the Smithing skill. They cannot be obtained in the Artisan's Workshop.
- Making gold jewellery, sewing leather or dragonhide into items, or making Molten glass with the Crafting skill.
Each of these methods will provide two of the pieces. The first piece of each method is fairly common and shouldn’t take too long to get. The second piece is twice as rare as the first, and as a result is half as common. The time taken to get both pieces will vary vastly; some have reported getting them in literally seconds, while others have spent upwards of a few hours trying to get them.
Tip: Ask Barnabus Hurma for a Statue collection bag to store all of your Strange rocks. This is helpful for saving spaces in your bank as they will all be stored in the bag when you choose to fill it.
When you obtain two of the same Strange rock, you can add it to the statue plinth in the museum of Varrock. Doing this will grant you a batch of experience in the skill that your Strange rock represents depending on what your current level in that skill is. You will not be able to get your rocks back, however. When you add all of the 30 Strange rocks available to the statue plinth, a cut-scene will play where the statue explodes.
The archeologists will tell you that the curse is still active, and they will hand you a different Statue plinth in the form of an item which you can place in your very own house. This goes into a separate 'Statue' hotspot in your Study room (see our Construction guide for more details). You will also receive a Statue replica piece, which is also for your house, which acts in exactly the same way as the conventional Strange rocks.
After the statue is completed, the Strange rocks can be obtained again. However, the statue can only be completed once per week. Since only one Statue replica piece can be gotten once per week as a result, and the statue consists of 30 of these, it will take an incredible amount of time to fully construct it, taking a minimum of 30 weeks!
Shattered Heart doesn't give much of a reward, other than a boost of experience. For every two rocks you receive and turn in, you'll receive some experience based on your level in the skill. Bear in mind that you have to have two rocks in order to cash them in for experience.
The calculator below will give the amount of experience reward you will receive, depending on the level of the relevant skill.
