Lava Flow MineEdit This Entity
Following the events of the Chaos dwarves in the quest King of the Dwarves, the Lava flow mine has been reopened to players who have helped Veldaban and have completed the quest. The entrance to the mine is located to the far east in East Keldagrim, north-east of the carts for transportation.
Once inside the mine, speak to Foreman Jaak, and he will teach you how to work at the mine and keep the power plant running at an optimal level.
Within the mine are four channels that make up of thirty-two segments of lava that run north and south. The temperature of the lava is just at the melting point, which will cause it to harden and form crust and blockage as it moves through the mine and cools. Your job is to locate where crust is forming and mine away the crust in order to keep the lava flowing, and the power planting producing.
The channels are named A, B, C and D, in order from closest to the entrance to furthest from the entrance. As previously mentioned, there are a total of thirty-two segments, with each channel having eight segments numbered 1, 2, 3, and so forth. The first segment is located at the south end of each channel, with the last segment being located at the north end.
By speaking with Foreman jaak, you can find out which channel the most crust is building up in. In order to find out the specific segment of the channel, you have to check the flow gauge within each channel. The segment with the most buildup will be at a flow rate of 50%, with the rest of the segments within that channel having a flow rate of intervals of 10%, all the way up to 100%. Any segment is free to be mined, though you will receive the most experience from segments that have the most crust buildup in them.
| Flow Rate | Experience per Crust Mined |
|---|---|
| 100% | 50 |
| 90% | 60 |
| 80% | 70 |
| 70% | 80 |
| 60% | 90 |
| 50% | 100 |
While you are mining away at the crust and slowing lava, there are a number of events or distractions that will appear and pre-occupy you from mining.

Boiler breakages | Occasionally, a boiler in between the lava flows will break and players must use their Smithing skills to help repair the damages. This requires a hammer and a random Smithing level between 70 and 90. This will yield a set amount of experience no matter how much you help repair or how many players are helping. |

TzHaar hero | Whenever a Lava monster appears on top of a section of the lava, you can choose to distract the monster and help the TzHaar hero come to get rid of the monster. By helping, you will have double the chance of finding gems in the crust for ten minutes. This event can be easy to fail if the TzHaar hero passes the monster. |

Lava monster | Again, this monster compliments the TzHaar hero and will attempt to eat the TzHaar eggs (which aren't exactly seen anywhere in the mine). If it is caught by the TzHaar hero, everyone in the mine will have an increased chance of receiving gems for the next 10 minutes. |

Possessed pickaxe | The spirits of the dwarfs who died during the Chaos dwarf attack, haunt the mine and possess pickaxes. By killing the Possessed pickaxe, the spirit will possess your pickaxe and allow you to gain 10% extra Mining experience for 10 minutes. You need to be wearing an Ghostspeak amulet or a Cramulet to be able to speak with the spirit. |

Liquid gold nymph | By mining the crust, you have a chance to be visited by the Liquid gold nymph. She will offer you a piece of the Golden mining outfit. If you already have the full outfit, she will then offer you a choice between trimming a pickaxe or 2,500 Mining experience. |
There are a few rewards that are available to you if you spend a decent amount of time mining in the Lava flow mine.
