Big ChinchompaEdit This Entity
Nyriki Tapio is constantly discovering tunnels to Big Chinchompa caves around the world. Being volatile creatures, trying to capture it by force can be dangerous considering their notorious explosive nature. He has a plan to catch it safely; to put it to sleep by feeding it their favourite food, which are soporith moths. Luckily they happen to be located in their caves, but nevertheless he will need your help to catch these moths, feed them to the critter, and put it to sleep. Those who participate will be rewarded with some points to spend at Nyriki's reward shop, some rewards being access to private hunting grounds, as well as some Hunter experience.
You may only participate in this Distraction and Diversion twice a day. No requirements are needed to start, but a higher Hunter level will give you a definite advantage.
Nyriki Tapio can appear at any Hunter spot found around the world, but the best and most effective way to reach him is to use the portal at the headquarters which teleports you directly there, and also gives you a timer as to when he is liable to appear in minutes. The headquarters can be found in the south-eastern part of the Tree Gnome Stronghold. You will need to go up the stairs to find it. See this map for its whereabouts.
Once you are in there, you will see six portals in the middle. Five of them lead to the private hunting grounds, but the orange one will be able to take you to where Nyriki will appear. Left click that portal to 'Check' it for the number of minutes until he will appear, and right-click and select 'Enter' to go through and teleport to wherever he is or will be. You will have to make your own way back once you go!
When the tunnel appears, enter it to be transported to the Big Chinchompa. Be aware that you will be transferred to a separate world. All forms of chat will therefore be erased after you go in. Also it is possible to enter the tunnel while the activity is underway, so for example you can still go in even though there are only 10 minutes until the end. This is not recommended as this counts as one of your two attempts per day, and doing this will potentially waste an attempt.
When you are inside the tunnel, the main aim of this activity is to get the Big Chinchompa in the center as sleepy as you can. Do this by feeding it moths which are found all around the cave. There are 8 different coloured soporith moths to catch in total, all of which have specific Hunter requirements. The more that you are able to catch, the more points you are likely to get.
| Image | Colour | Level | XP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Red | 1 | 15 | |
| Orange | 13 | 50 | |
| Yellow | 26 | 150 | |
| Green | 39 | 250 | |
| Blue | 52 | 300 | |
| Purple | 65 | 320 | |
| Grey | 78 | 400 | |
| Black | 91 | 450 |
In your inventory you will also receive a Moth jar. This will store the moths that you catch while you go about searching for them. When you collect 15 moths, the jar will become full and you will need to go to the center where the big chinchompa is and empty them (by clicking the center area).
It is recommended that you pick a Protea flower from the Protea plants located in any of the four corners as soon as you go in, and wield it. By wielding it you will occasionally catch a moth automatically without doing anything else. The strategy here is very basic; travel round the cave in a circle looking out for wandering moths out in the open (and clicking them to catch them), and searching the plants around the cave at the same time (left-click the 'Shaking plants'). When your jar becomes full, empty it into the middle and repeat the process.
The interface at the top-left of the screen will tell you how many moths you currently have in your jar, what percentage the chinchompa is sleepy, and the number of Competence points you have gathered so far. 1,111 points are needed to get the chinchompa 100% sleepy.
When the timer runs out, the big chinchompa will finally fall asleep and you will be awarded Competence points and a batch of Hunter experience. These points can be spent at Nyriki's or Mieliki's shop, the rewards of which are detailed below.

The main benefit of accumulating Competence points through this activity is the use of the private hunting grounds that are available to you. They are behind the portals in the headquarters where Mieliki Tapio is located. When you enter, the creatures which you want to hunt will slowly appear besides you. Up to six of them may appear at one time.
These creatures can only be hunted if you have the respective quota ticket in your inventory, and they will be deducted for each successful catch. For example, if you hunt for Red chinchompas in the private area and catch one, you get one Carnivorous chinchompa quota ticket taken from you however none will be taken if the catch fails.
If other players enter the area with you, more creatures will spawn for them too. The more players that are in the private hunting area, the more creatures there will be.
A: Yes, you may only do this D&D twice a day.
Q: What is the quickest way to reach a Big Chinchompa tunnel?A: Use Nyriki's portal which is located in the headquarters in the south-east part of the Tree Gnome Stronghold. It will take you straight there, although you will need to make your own way back from there.
