This extra gem mine is available once a player has completed all the hard tasks in the Karamja Achievement Diary. It can be accessed by the ladder which will appear by the current gem mine after a player has completed the diary, or by teleporting to the mine with the Karamja gloves 3. Most people prefer to use the existing gem mine, as the rocks are closer together than the underground one, however, it is still a viable option for mining when the above ground mine is busy.
