Dear readers: I'm back. My pen is refilled and sharp as ever. To prove it, I'll discuss something that really has the ability to irritate the living hell out of me. For your reading entertainment, of course.

We're spoiled brats, it's time we fess up to that. The definition for the word "spoiled" tells us: "having the character or disposition harmed by pampering or over-solicitous attention; a" spoiled child"". We?re pampered. We receive over-solicitous attention. If you don't believe me, just have a look at the weekly updates on Runescape, created by Jagex employees, for us players. In my opinion, we all, as a community, fit the description of "spoiled brat".

Just have a peek at what we're actually getting. What's the input? Updates. Lots and lots of updates. Every Monday of every week, we receive several updates, bundled and presented as one big "change". This usually consists out of quests, graphical changes and hints towards the next updates. One would think that we'd be overly satisfied with this continuous stream of updates and revelations on Jagex' part. But, we aren't. In fact, we're angry with Jagex. They?re the embodiment of evil. The devil incarnate! How dare they present us with such a small update this week. (In case you don't pick up on sarcasm easily; this is sarcasm).

Have you ever come to the realization that Jagex is made out of people, just like any other corporation out there? Their employees wake up in the morning, just like us. They sit down and have breakfast, they get in their cars and travel to work. They have stupid bosses and angry secretaries, like with any other business or trade you're working for. And what is their job? What are they doing behind those screens and PowerPoint presentations? They are creating our game. Every single day, these guys and girls over at Jagex Inc busy themselves by creating code, graphics, story-lines, quests, content and troubleshoot. And why? For us! Their input is what we get to see every time we log in. Those bits of code, forming screens, axes, swords and houses, were created by people, for our own entertainment.

However, all is not well in the land of Jagex. They seem to be doing something wrong. Everyone disagrees with their choices and their updates. Few people defend their causes and even fewer people really think about whether or not Jagex deserves their gratification. What seems to be the problem? We are. The people, the loyal players of Miscelania. Nothing is deserving of our appreciation, considering everything is subject to some kind of horrid criticism. Granted, criticism is necessary to realize improvement. But are we talking about founded arguments? Are we talking about educated guesses and analyses? I don't think so. Our arguments are shallow and cocky. We like to tell Jagex off for making a decision, whilst we don't always know what the decision really entailed. But, we tell them off anyway, as that's what we?re expected to do. Right?

It?s all about input, output and the appreciation according to the level of that in-and output. Jagex provides the input, we should appreciate the output. But the application of that system is flawed, so it would appear. We are receiving the input, every week, with continuous support both in-game and on the forums, but where is the appreciation for the guaranteed output? It's gone, it never existed. And if it did, it was crushed by the heaps and heaps of angry "I hate Jagex, because it's Jagex!" players within this community.

Now ask yourself this: Did Jagex really offend you, badly enough for you to neglect everything they've done for you since the moment you first logged in? Are your arguments filled with rage and unfounded logic, just because everyone else writes it off like that? Jagex deserves more than our disgruntled "you suck, Jagex!". We're playing a product, made by real people, as a part of their real time jobs. Input, output and appreciation. Remember those three words, as they can be important when/if you start creating your own output and start expecting your own gratification.
