The Living Rock Caverns can be accessed from a rope within the Dwarven Mines opposite the summoning obelisk. Next to the entrance is Farli, a Dwarf who has been sent to this area to explore, and a pulley system that acts as a bank deposit box. This pulley will prove very handy if you are planning on fishing the area's exclusive fish or mining its rich ore deposits.

This area is unique in that the ores here are Concentrated ore deposits; they work in a similar way as trees allowing players with a high mining level to mine up to several inventories of ore before they collapse. The fishing spots in the area are the only place in the game where you can fish Rocktail at level 90 fishing and Cavefish at level 85.

The only setback to speculation that this area could provide a new, faster way of gaining Mining and Fishing experience is that the area is swarming with Living Rock Protectors and Living Rock Strikers that will attack you. There are, however, many safe spots for both Mining and Fishing, although the fishing spots may move and the ore deposits may become collapsed. Despite their high level, these monsters will not hit you very high and are unlikely to disturb your Mining or Fishing for long. When you do kill one you can mine its remains for some Living minerals if you have 73 or higher Mining, which are the bait used for catching the Rocktail. When you kill a certain number of Living Rock Protectors and Living Rock Strikers a Living Rock Patriarch will appear, it is recommended that you kill him as he has a very good drop worth around 200k. Whilst the patriarch might seem difficult at level 200, he is relatively easy to kill, hitting low and rarely he is well worth the trouble.
