Agility is an extremely tedious, yet enjoyable, Members' only skill. Agility may seem useless, but its effect is very broad and plays a major role in your ability to travel around RuneScape, access special areas, and complete quests all throughout the game.
To begin with, the Agility skill only has a few actual training areas; therefore, it's easier to familiarize yourself with a routine.
Having a higher agility level increases the rate at which your energy regenerates and decreases the rate at which it drains. Agility allows access to certain areas of RuneScape, whether it is the Yanille Agility Dungeon, Tirannwn, or the Regicide Quest area. The number one advantage of agility, however, is the shortcuts that players can use at certain levels. These shortcuts allow for faster access to particular areas.
There are many areas to train your agility, but you will need to meet a minimum agility level to enter each different area. All of these Agility Training Areas are marked by the
icon on the minimap.
This is the beginning area to start your agility training.
The Gnome Stronghold Agility Course is located in the south-east corner of the Tree Gnome Stronghold. You cannot fail any obstacle here, except the Signpost run, so there is no need to bring any food.

Remember to do one complete lap, because you must do it in that exact order, or you will not get your 39 experience bonus.

The Penguin Agility Course is located in the north-west corner on the Iceberg, north of Rellekka. You can fail all four obstacles here, so you'll need to bring food. You will also need your penguin suit to get in. In order to access this area and build a penguin suit, you'll need to have done at least half of the Cold War quest and have 30 agility.

You may now teleport to this location upon completion of the Lunar Diplomacy quest. You may also teleport near here using a games necklace.
At level 35 agility, you can train at the Barbarian Outpost. As with the Penguin Agility Course, you will need to bring food, because you can fail obstacles here and you may lose a bit of health. The best kind of food to bring is cake, because the lower the health you have the less health you will lose from failing a course. It is recommended to train here until level 40 agility.
To get to this course, travel north of Baxtorian Falls, up a hill and then north until you see the agility course. Wander around it and you will find the entrance.
You cannot get into the Barbarian Outpost without proving that you are a Barbarian. To get in you must complete the Alfred Grimhand Barcrawl, which is part of the Scorpion Catcher quest. However, you do not need to start the quest to start the Barcrawl. To begin this, talk to the guards standing at the gates. You will now have to travel around RuneScape going to different pubs and drinking all kinds of ales and beer. Here is a chart to tell you where each pub is:

Remember, to get the bonus experience, you must complete an entire lap.

You can start training here at level one, but it is unwise. You should really start training here once you get level 40 agility. If you have less than level 40 agility, you will not be able to pass some of the obstacles, like the darts and the blades.
Note: Admission to the Brimhaven agility arena is free with Karamja Achievement Diary gloves, level 1 and 2.
Brimhaven Agility Arena is different from the Tree Gnome Stronghold agility course, and the Barbarian Outpost agility course. You may be training here for a long time, and you may not even get bored. Brimhaven agility arena is a new way to train your agility. You will have to pass obstacles like normal, but here you receive agility tickets. Once you have enough agility tickets, you can trade them in for items or even Agility experience!
To get the agility tickets you will have to follow an arrow on your minimap to the marked ticket dispenser. You have to tag the dispenser that the arrow is above. Once you tag two in a row you will receive a ticket. You will also receive a ticket for every time you tag the dispenser after that (unless you miss a dispenser). Just keep on doing this and once you have enough agility tickets, you can trade them in for items or experience.
To get into the agility arena you will have to pay 200gp. The best kind of food to bring here is cake. Do not bring any armour or weapons, because you will just drain your energy faster. If you have Boots of Lightness, a spotted/spottier cape, and/or Penance gloves, wear them, because they will reduce your weight and enable you to run for longer. If you are wearing upgraded jungle gloves (which can be obtained from the Karamja Achievement Diary), you will gain slightly more experience from the Arena both when you do the obstacles, and when you trade in your tickets. Be aware that some of the obstacles lower your Agility level when failed.
| Obstacle | Experience | Can Fail? |

| Darts | 30 | Yes |
| Spikes | 24 | Yes |
| Pressure Pad | 26 | Yes |
Note: When doing the saw obstacle, you have to click on the other side of the saw to cross this obstacle. For the darts and blades, you need level 40 agility, and if you fail the darts, you will temporarily lose two agility levels for each failed attempt.
| Tickets | Item/Experience Gained |

As stated before, you can trade your agility tickets you get for items or experience. To trade the agility tickets you have gained, you must exit the Agility Arena and then speak with Jackie the Fruit. Jackie the Fruit is located in the hut where you entered the agility Arena.
The Pyramid Agility course is located to the south-west of Nardah, or north-east of Sophanem, and is in a desert zone, meaning you will need water. To get there, you should take a magic carpet ride from the Shantay Pass. Before doing so however, stock up on filled waterskins, wear some desert robes and buy a Shantay pass. You could also use a enchanted water tiara instead upon completion of the Dealing with Scabaras quest. The amount of waterskins you need will vary, depending on how long you wish to stay at the agility course. Once you have enough waterskins in your inventory or bank to last you the length of your training go through the Shantay Pass. Pack your weapon so that your weapon hand is free to hold the carpet, and speak to Ali M. Take a carpet ride to Pollnivneach (200gp; less if you charm him), and from the south Pollnivneach magic carpet merchant, take a carpet ride to Nardah. Once in the desert city of Nardah, ensure that you have everything you need; head to Nardah's bank if you forgot something. Once you are ready, make your way south-west out of Nardah, until you come across the Pyramid.
To enter the pyramid, you must have level 30 agility. Climbing down the rocks gives 5 XP, and is not a part of the course. Speak to Simon Templeton, and he will tell you about the Pyramid. He will tell you that there lies a solid gold artefact at the top of the pyramid, and that you should bring it back to him for a reward.
The objective is to make it through the pyramid's outer walls to the top. You will pass many obstacles along the way, and you must beat them to continue. Watch out for pyramid blocks that slide out of the walls and push you down a level as well. Each time you fail an obstacle you will lose 60-100 life points, and you will get knocked down one level of the pyramid. Once you reach the top level, climb the rocks on the wall to retrieve the pyramid top, and then go around the final two obstacles to the doorway, and enter it. Once you are back at the entrance, sell the pyramid top to Simon for 1,000gp. Simon will continue to pay 1,000gp for each pyramid top you wish to sell, if you choose to continue collecting them.
| Obstacle | Experience | Can fail? |
|---|---|---|
| Rolling Stone | 12 | Yes |
| Low Wall | 8 | Yes |
| Ledge | 52 | Yes |
| Plank | 56.4 | Yes |
| Jump Gap | 22 | Yes |
| Hang Gap | 56.4 | Yes |
This course gives an amazing 1,014 agility XP (includes the 300xp obtained when going through the door at the top, for completing the course fully), as well as 1,000gp per trip (if you choose to sell the pyramid top to Simon)! A higher agility level is a great advantage here, as you will not fail as much. Those with under level 50 agility should think twice, as you may fail too often to be able to get the most out of this course.

If you have 48 Agility and a Ninja Monkey Greegree, you will gain access to Ape Atoll and Crash Isle, home of the Monkey Agility Arena! This arena is located on the
southern half of Marim on the island of Ape Atoll and Crash Isle; go south-east of the magic shop until you find a bridge, cross the bridge and go south-west and you should see the start of the course next to a sign. You must use the Ninja Monkey Greegree to change into a ninja monkey before attempting to do the course; otherwise, you will not even be able to start it. Start at the stepping stone and follow the course from there - the course ends with you doing acrobatic swings down a vine until you make it to the ground.
This course is a good option if you cannot yet do the Wilderness Agility Course or you do not want to risk being attacked by Revenants. It is not great experience for those that meet the requirements for this course, so the Wilderness Agility Course may be your preference. If you are well above the requirements, then the monkey course may be better. At level 75 agility you will stop failing the obstacles. However, at roughly 65 agility you will fail occasionally, and it is recommended that a knife be brought to slice up the pineapples available at the end of the course.
Bring food (cakes, lobsters or sharks), an anti poison potion, some form of teleportation, and your Ninja Monkey Greegree when you head to the course. There are also pineapples located at the end of the course that can heal you as well so consider bringing a knife. Remember that if and while you are in monkey form on Ape Atoll, nothing will attack you and damage can only be received from failing parts of the course.
Note: Your agility potions can now work here.
Note: You specifically need a Ninja or Archer Monkey Greegree - a normal Greegree (such as the one you obtain during the Monkey Madness Quest) will not work.

This course gives 580 experience points per lap and is relatively fast, but you seem to fail quite a bit. One lap consists of doing the following in this order: stepping stone, tropical tree (up), monkey bars, skull slope, rope swing, and tropical tree (down). Remembering to do it in that exact order should not be hard, as you cannot do any obstacle both ways.

This is where agility gets interesting and dangerous! Now, if you have the guts, you really want fast experience, and you're level 52 agility, you will be training in the WILDERNESS AGILITY ARENA! Here you will find monsters, and of course, Revenant Ghosts who are looking for some nice fresh meat! If you encounter a Revenant, your best bet is to run down the ladder past the rope swing and find a spot away from the skeletons and log out and change worlds. It is a good idea to bring the following things along with you: a weapon, one super energy potion, one antipoison potion, and then fill the rest of your inventory with food. The less weight carried, the better.
Do not train in the Wilderness if you are afraid to die and feel uncomfortable. Train at either the Monkey Agility Arena or the Brimhaven agility arena, and trade in your Brimhaven Agility Tickets once you have about 1,000.
In and under the wilderness agility arena, some skeletons will attack you while you try to get out of the pit or finish the course. You will find that the experience you get is worth all this danger.

This agility area is located east of Canifis and you must have the Ring of Charos from the Creature of Fenkenstrain quest in order to enter. In this area, there are two courses: The skullball mini-game and the main course.
The skullball course requires level 25 agility in order to begin. To play this game, you must talk to the Skullball Boss at the beginning, kick your skull through all the "goals", and then kick it into the hole at the end. It takes about 3 minutes 30 seconds to complete, depending on how well you play, and gives a maximum of 750xp. If you are not fast enough, you will not receive full XP points.
The main course requires level 60 agility to start. Unlike other regular courses, this course is a bit more exciting. When you step onto the first stepping-stone, the Werewolf Boss will throw a stick for you to retrieve. You must pick up this stick from behind the pipes and then bring it back to the trainer at the end of the course. This will take about 40 seconds. Keep in mind that this course is quite dangerous. The last obstacle is the death slide, where you must hold onto a zip-line with your teeth; certain head-wear can stop you from attemting the death slide; failing this can cause up to 300 damage but you still receive 140 experience (60 less than normal). In order to decrease you chances of failing the obstacle, try not to bring too much weight while training. Boots of Lightness, spotted/spottier capes, and/or Penance gloves should be worn if at all possible.

From the time you step onto the first stepping stone, until the time you give the stick to the Werewolf trainer you will gain 540 experience points. However, in order to gain the 190 experience at the end, you must remember to retrieve the stick after the pipes and give it to the trainer at the end.

Upon completing The Chosen Commander quest, one will be able to use this course. It requires a minimum of level 60 Agility to use and doesn?t allow you to use agility potions to boost in. To get to the throne room you must create a teleporting sphere by speaking with Oldak in Dorgesh-Kaan. The payment is 1 Molten glass and 2 Law runes. Alternatively, you can use the Fairy Ring code of BLQ to arrive in Yu'biusk. Simply open the chest here to be taken to the course.
To start this course, climb up the goblin statue in the middle of the room. Be careful that you don?t choose the wrong statue otherwise it will come to life and attack you. You will need a crossbow with a Mithril grapple equipped to fully complete this course. This place is great for training Agility because the course is short and offers a lot of experience. It also gives you a nice Range experience bonus for each lap completed (approximately 150 experience). The only downside is that you can fail nearly every obstacle which results in having to start from the beginning again. It's recommended to have around level 65 Agility before seriously training here.
The great thing about this course is that you can bring a Summoning familiar with you. It's advised to take advantage of this by bringing a Spiritual terrorbird with you. The summon's special attack scroll can rejuvenate a large percentage of your run energy back. Another option is to bring some Super energy potions with you. If you run out, then you can simply use a Ring of duelling to bank and a teleport sphere to get back quickly. Cakes are good foods to bring as their inexpensive and heal a lot. Another good item to bring is the Enhanced excalibur. The weapon's special attack heals you 200 life points in ten seconds.

The number isn't extremely high, but you can easily finish this course in about thirty seconds. The downside, however, is that there's a high chance of failing. This course it good for training up until around 75 Agility.

The Dorgesh-Kaan agility course is located in the back of Dorgesh-Kaan. You must have completed the Death to the Dorgeshuun quest to access the course. The course requirements are 80 agility and 80 Ranged. The cave has no light, so remember to bring a light source!
There are a few other bonuses for experience for strength and Ranged if you use the grapple path for a total of 72 strength experience and 643 Ranged experience. Please note that the experience listed below is just for one way; if you return the way you came or do a complete lap, you will get more experience.
There are two different routes a player can take during this course. One route requires a crossbow and grappling hook, while the other does not. Each route allows you to carry an item from the old furnace to Turgall but different items cannot be brought through certain obstacles. At level 90 agility, you can train at the Advanced Barbarian Outpost. As with the regular Barbarian Outpost Agility Course, you will need to bring food, because you can fail obstacles here and you may lose a bit of health. Once you have achieved level 67 agility and you're tired of training at the other available courses, you can train here. The Yanille agility dungeon is located north of Yanille. You might want to bring a weapon, some armour, and antipoison potions, because the agility dungeon contains some monsters and poison spiders.
If you manage to get to the end of the dungeon, there is Salarin the Twisted, a level 70 creature, who is one of the only monsters in all of RuneScape that drops the Sinister Key (several of the Implings drop this key as well). Use this key to open a chest within the dungeon that contains the herb to Zamorak Brew and many other random herbs.
If you really like Herblore then this is the place for you to train agility or for the collection of herbs. This dungeon is full of chaos druids and chaos druid warriors. Chaos druid warriors also drop whiteberries, and other secondary ingredients. Therefore, instead of risking your life going up into the wild and picking them up where the dangerous and mighty red dragon slumbers, you can fight chaos druid warriors for the whiteberries.
When you enter the dungeon, you will find yourself in a small room with three giant bats (level-27).
Level: 40 Agility
Experience gained: 22
Can fail?: Yes
If you fail this obstacle, you will fall down into a pit of poison spiders and you will have to start all over again.
If you pass this obstacle, you will find yourself in a place with eight chaos druid warriors (level-37).
Level: 49 Agility
Experience gained: 7.5
Can fail?: No
After you have gone through the obstacle pipe you will find yourself in a place with five skeletons (level-45). This area also contains the Sinister chest.
Level: 57
Experience gained: 20
Can fail?: Yes
If you fail, you will fall down into a pit of poison spiders and you will have to start all the way from the beginning.
If you pass this obstacle, you will come to an area with two giant bats (level-27) and seven chaos druids (level-13). If you go down the staircase a tad north, you will come to a Lockpick spawn.
Level: 67
Experience gained: 5.5
Can fail?: No
You will now come to an area with four chaos druids (level-13), and a Salarin the Twisted (level-70). Salarin the Twisted drops the Sinister key, use this to open the Sinister chest in an earlier room.
As an alternative to training at an agility course, those who are level 1 agility can train it by catching a Toy Mouse. Simply obtain a Toy Mouse from a player or craft one using your Workshop Crafting Table 4.
Winding the mouse and releasing it gives 3xp when you catch it. This is best trained in a small area where the Toy Mouse is easily caught, for example in the small room above the Hairdresser in Falador. One of the best places to train agility was within Captain Barnaby's boat at the docks of Ardougne. Crossing the gangplank and descending the ladder on ship (without setting sail), would take you into a one 'square' room where you can pick up a clockwork mouse without it running away. However, due to a game update the mouse requires at least one space for itself so the ship's deck is a better option now.
While you are cleaning up Tai Bwo Wannai, you can gain a little agility experience. When you are hacking the jungles, there can be many threats that are hiding in these jungles. When you kill the threats you get favour from the village. For more information about, please visit the Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup guide.
| Name | Level | Life points | Favour | Drops | Notes |
| Large Mosquito | 13 | 30 | 1 | One Proboscis | Also gives 18 agility XP |
| Mosquito Swarm | 17 | 100 | 1 | Three Proboscises | Also gives 35 agility XP |
| Giant Swarm | 20 | 130 | 1 | Five Proboscises | Also gives 75 agility XP |
If you have a fully charged Penance horn, you can receive double experience while completing agility courses while wielding it. To fill your horn with potential experience, simply play through the Barbarian Assault mini-game with the rewards set to "Experience."
See our Barbarian Assault guide for more information.
Firstly, here are the facts:
The Wilderness Course takes 43-46 seconds per trip; you fail a fair bit; and it gives a total of 571.5 XP.
The Werewolf Course takes around 53 seconds per trip; you do not fail as much; and it gives a total of 540 XP.
Therefore, it is - despite the amount of times you may fail - the Wilderness course that gives more experience, efficiently. Below is an analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of both agility courses.
| Advantage | Disadvantage |
|---|---|
| Gives 31.5 experience more than Werewolf Course | Failing a lot is an issue for people with lower level agility. |
| One lap is around 10 seconds quicker than the Werewolf Course | Lap time increases by around 7 seconds if you fail an obstacle. |
| Much more enjoyable, the thrill of the possibility of Revenant ghosts keeps you from getting bored. | Some attacks of Revenant ghosts unprovoked. |
| Less damage gained on obstacles. | The bank can be dangerous as Revenant ghosts might hang out around the entrance. |
| Advantage | Disadvantage |
|---|---|
| The time per lap will not vary, as you can only fail the final obstacle. | Gives less experience than wilderness course |
| There are no Revenant ghosts there to kill you. | It can be quite boring. |
| Bank is nearer and also the route is safer. | You have to bank more often. |
With level 1 agility, there is only one course available to you, the Gnome Stronghold agility course. This is the best place to train your agility until level 25. You have to complete this course 91 times to achieve level 25 agility. There is no need for food here, as you cannot fail any obstacles. Be sure to take a few breaks while training, because this will be the most boring part of agility for a long time. Before you know it, you'll have level 25 agility!
Congratulations on level 25 agility! At this point, you now have two options: you can stay at the Gnome Stronghold and train to level 35, or you can play the mini-game Skullball, which offers good agility experience.
If you decide to stay at the Gnome Stronghold, you will have to complete the course another 169 times. However, you may find it easier to complete a course rather than a mini-game, as there is less thinking involved.
If you choose to play Skullball, you must have completed the Creature of Fenkenstrain quest. Food is recommended for lower level players, as there are monsters around the entrance to the course. However, the course itself has nothing that can hurt you. The object is to get the skull through all of the hoops in as little time possible. If you can do it in less than four minutes, you'll get 750xp. For every few seconds over four minutes, you'll lose about 10xp. If you can manage to get 750xp every time (it's not too hard once you get the hang of it), you'll only have to do the course about 20 times.
At this point, you have access to a new agility course, the Barbarian Outpost. You may want to bring some food with you, as you can now fail obstacles, which will hurt you up to 50 life points. (Hint: Keeping your life points lower will reduce the damage you take if you fail an obstacle. I.E. If your life points are lower than 200, you will only take 20 damage by failing here.) This course is relatively fast experience, it takes 30-45 minutes to level up. You'll need to do it 281 times before accomplishing level 40 agility, though, so take a few breaks--you could even play some more Skullball.
It is recommended that you stay here until level 40 before continuing on to the next step, the Agility Arena. These levels will allow you to complete all the obstacles.
These levels of agility will be the most fun you'll have training agility. You're finally able to get the most out of agility. Head to the Agility Arena in Brimhaven, carrying about 500gp, some teleport runes, and lots of cakes. You will need about 200 tickets, if you turn in 100 at a time for the extra experience. You're almost there!
If you feel you are failing too much, you can go back to training at the Barbarian Outpost. However, once you reach level 45, using the arena is strongly recommended, as the experience is considerably faster.
The Wilderness course is your best option here, as Brimhaven isn't as fast. You no longer have to watch out for PK'ers, but you still have to avoid the revenant ghosts. Make sure you only bring food and lightweight, non-valuable items. You get 571.5 experience per run. So, after 1,902 runs of the course, you'll have 75 Agility. Most players are familiar with brawler gloves which give an experience bonus when worn while training stats. This is increased greatly in this course to a massive 400% of regular experience when you use a pair of gloves here.
This sounds like a lot of work, and it really is. Ape Atoll is your best agility course now. At level 75 you won't fail at all. That means incredible experience from 75 to 99. For this course, you do not need to bring Super Energy potions anymore, thanks to the new update as of June 9, you restore your energy fast enough during obstacles to need these.
The extended Gnome Stronghold agility course will get you the most experience through these levels. You'll need to bring food, however, because you still fail quite frequently.
Since you don't fail alot this level, the advanced Barbarian Outpost course is the best choice from here until 99. However, if you get bored, you can do the advanced Gnome Stronghold or Ape Atoll courses. Good luck on 99 and don't forget to head to the agility master for your Cape of Accomplishment!

A: No. Though you gain your energy points back faster, and therefore can travel further distances faster, your running speed is not increased when you have a higher Agility level.
A: No, it does not. Agility used to have an effect in free worlds, but it was changed as of June 09, 2009.
