RuneFest - Andrew Gower answers questionsEdit This Entity
Meraphox and I walked up to Andrew Gower, the creator/founder of RuneScape. Thanks to the small size of RuneFest, Andrew Gower wasn't totally IRL spammed/flooded by people. I caught Andrew again a few minutes later to squeeze some StellarDawn info out of him. He was very tight-lipped about it. I asked him if we'd be able to fly in StellarDawn. He refused to answer. I then said that it'd be very difficult to do decent flying movement on the RuneScape engine (since StellarDawn will be based on RuneScape's engine). Andrew then said that they've had to make some changes in the game engine for the movement. Then he added that he's not totally happy with the StellarDawn game engine and that he'd like to rewrite it again (remember Mechscape?). I then asked some of the Jagex graphics and content team members if they were working on stuff other than RuneScape, such as StellarDawn. They all said that there's a separate team that works on that. They also spoke in the past-tense which perhaps means that most of the graphics and content work has already been done on StellarDawn. I also spoke with the localisation staff and they haven't gotten any translation work for StellarDawn yet either.
