The balance elemental uses all three forms of attacks: Magic, Melee, and Ranged. He doesn't give any warning of using them, so you have to react quickly. When he pulls out a flaming bow he will use Ranged attacks. If he hurls rocks/water drops at you, then he's using Magic attacks. Finally, if he just uses his fists, then he's using melee. Use the appropriate protection prayer when necessary. He can also reduce your combat stats, so bring super restore potions.

Tactics

It is possible to switch prayers in order to avoid damage.A possible approach would be to wear a defensive metal armour such as Dharok's, and melee him with protect from magic on, thus avoiding the stats reducing effect while not taking too many hits
