Over the years, the kingdoms of Asgarnia and Misthalin have become increasingly uncomfortable about the possibility of threats from the Wilderness and Morytania. King Roald has taken matters into his own hands and he has commissioned a network of beacons to be built across the land, from the Temple of Paterdomus at the border of Morytania, along the northern borders of Misthalin and Asgarnia and up along the western border of the Wilderness. The communication network is already in place, but King Roald could use a little help making sure everything is ready to go, in the event of emergency....

Part 1:
The First Beacon

Step 1
Talk to King Roald in Varrock castle.
Speak to Blaze Sharpeye.
Light the beacon using 20 logs.
Speak to Blaze.

Zybez RuneScape Help's Image of the BeaconItems needed: Tinderbox, 20 logs all of the same kind.

Speak to King Roald to begin a new quest where you will be lighting his newly devised warning beacons. After speaking with the King head towards Morytania using the path leading east out of Varrock towards Canifis, passing south of the lumberyard. Once you are at Paterdomus (the location you explored during Priest in Peril) walk slightly south of the church without crossing the river and speak to Blaze Sharpeye who is on a hill nearby next to a beacon.

Blaze will ask you to use 20 logs with the beacon and to light it using a tinderbox (Picture). The logs can be of any level, normal or magic, but they must be the same type. Do as he requests and light the beacon using a tinderbox once you have added the logs. Speak to Blaze again for the next assignment.

Part 2:
The Second Beacon

Step 2
Go to the limestone quarry which is east of the earth altar.
Light the beacon to the north-west.
Speak to Squire Fyre.
Speak to Blaze again.
Speak to King Roald.

Items needed: Tinderbox, 25 logs all of the same kind.

It is suggested at this point that you return to a bank to swiftly pick up the 25 more logs that you need, saving you time. You can teleport to Varrock or rub an Amulet of Glory to reach Edgeville. Alternatively you can use the passage under the River Salve to reach the bank in Canifis instead. Return afterwards to the area. You can of course cut the trees growing near to Paterdomus for your logs but this can take quite a while longer.

Travel west of the first beacon towards the limestone mine where the Odd Old Man resides, east of the earth altar. Just north-west the Odd Old Man is the second beacon, with Squire Fyre standing next to it. Add another 20 matching logs of any kind and light the beacon with a tinderbox. Speak to Squire Fyre. Now go back to Blaze and speak with him. He will then ask for another 5 logs to add to his own beacon to keep it lit (Picture). Lastly, speak to Blaze one last time, and then head back to King Roald in Varrock for your reward.

Beacon Mini Game

Introduction

Once you have completed the All Fired Up quest, King Roald has a request for you. He says that he wants you to test out the beacons to make sure they all work in proper order. As learned in the quest, the beacons are lit by using a tinderbox and 20 logs of any type (Keep in mind that the better the logs are, the longer they will burn). If you can keep a certain number of them all burning, you will receive various rewards to help aid you in the Firemaking skill.

Strategy

There is one key factor that will help you greatly. When going to each beacon to place your logs, don't light them. This is because you'll have to constantly bank inbetween which means your flames have a greater chance of dying before you can light enough for a reward. Once you have placed all the logs in the necessary beacons, begin going to each one and lighting them.

There are a couple of things that will aid you with this long journey. You can give a macaw pouch to each and every one of the people guarding the beacons. If you do this then you will be able to get information on every beacon rather than just the two adjacent ones. Some of the people standing by the beacons will not talk to you unless you do something for them, however. This means that you cannot leave logs with them or gain information. At the goblin village you will have to give the goblin a Davy Kebbit Hat (Requires completion of the As a First Resort... quest) before he will talk to you, and the lady in charge of the beacon north of the Varrock palace claims that she is tired and needs a white tree fruit (Requires completion of the Garden of Tranquillity quest) before she can help you. The man at the beacon west of the Dark Warrior's Fortress will ask for a lava eel.

By the time you get to the last few beacons you can check how the first beacons are doing by right clicking the person nearby and selecting "information" as long as you have given them a macaw pouch. Also, you may want to take logs with you to give to the beacon watchmen for the first 4 or 5 beacons. This will keep the fires burning long enough for you to light every beacon. Depending on which end you are starting your beacons you may wish to fetch the required items for the people watching the beacons. For example if you plan on lighting the beacon near Blaze Sharpeye as your first beacon then you may need to give a white fruit to the person by the beacon north of the Varrock palace in order to give them some logs. Make sure you take the time to speak to all the watchmen and put logs on each of the beacons before you try to light them all as there may be some unforeseen problems that mean you have to start it all again.

If you've completed the As a First Resort... quest then you may use the salt water pool to have infinite run for a certain period of time. You can also use a Beast of Burden familiar with your Summoning skill to hold some extra logs or energy potions.

Rewards

When you have kept a certain number of beacons lit, you will receive a reward depending on how many you did. You can claim these rewards by speaking to King Roald in the Varrock Castle.

Another way to do it is to light the beacons but give five logs to the tenders so the flames don't die. This method is quicker then the one listed above but it has a higher risk of failing.

Item Picture Beacon Amount Information
Ring of fire Zybez RuneScape Help's Screenshot of the Ring of Fire 6 Beacons Increases the amount of experience when burning a log by 2%.
Flame gloves Zybez RuneScape Help's Screenshot of the Flame Gloves 10 Beacons Increases the amount of Firemaking experience received when burning a log by 2%. If you wear this along with the ring of fire then the combined experience bonus will be 5%.
Inferno Adze Zybez RuneScape Help's Screenshot of the Inferno Adze 14 Beacons This item counts as a Woodcutting axe, and it is as fast as a Dragon axe. When cutting wood, it burns 30% of the logs you cut. You will receive the normal amount of Firemaking experience as you would by using a tinderbox on the log (plus any extra experience you would receive from the ring of fire and/or flame gloves, if you're wearing them). In addition to that, it can also be used as pickaxe.
