Things are not going well for the Catapult Guard at the Tyras Camp. Already unpopular with his comrades after his security lapses, he's now neglected the catapult and allowed the damp of the forests of Isafdar to seep in and rot the frame. General Hining is furious, the replacement catapult parts haven't arrived and the rookie catapult engineer has gone missing.

It's a good thing, then, that a bold adventurer with your knowledge of Construction is in the area. Of course, this will take more effort than forming furniture - catapults are complicated pieces of equipment - ensuring that this mission will mean your exertions will be mental as much as physical.

Part 1:
Surrounded by incompetence

Step 1
Arrive at Tyras Camp.
Speak to the catapult guard.
Speak to General Hining.
Find and speak to the Catapult engineer.
Read the schematics and the letter.

Zybez RuneScape Help's Screenshot of General Hining Take a charted ship to Port Tyras and head into the Tyras Camp. Players can reduce the cost of taking the charter boat by completing pirate quests, and wearing a ring of charos (a) (see our Charos Charming guide). Players can simply travel through the elven forest from Ardougne past Tirannwn, but this takes quite some time and it is much easier to take the boat. Go through the three Agility obstacles that lead out of the camp, and run directly north to the lake where the catapult is. Speak to the Tyras guard there. He will explain that he has let the catapult rot and he fears that he will be decommissioned from Tyras' military. Say, "I guess you're going to get fired then," and then agree to try and help him. Head back into the camp and speak to General Hining.

Hining explains that they do have an engineer to help repair the catapult. However, as even the catapult guard has commented, he is simply minded and they have little faith in him to do the job (he even forgot his tools). Persuade him that you can perform his task instead, and he will give you a letter to bring to the engineer who is wandering in the woods directly north of the catapult. To reach the engineer go east from the catapult, run south through the dense trees, over the trip wire (usually does 100-160 damage and poisons), and then climb out of the eastern dense forest leaving the 'entrance' to the camp. Run north through the grassy path, jump over the pit fall and continue upwards until you reach the ponds. Travel west until you see a hunting spot, then walk south into the trees as far as you can until you reach a trap - pass it (it can do a lot of damage so food is helpful) and you will be there.

Speak to the engineer and hand him his letter. Persuade the engineer to let you help him. Ask to see the schematics and read them; you won't know what planks and nails you need, just their amounts. Speak to the engineer again and ask to read the letter for yourself. In the letter it will say that you need 10 mahogany planks and 90 mithril nails to replace parts of the catapult. He fails to see its use. You will also learn from the engineer by asking, that you need a knife, hammer, and saw to construct the catapult and its parts. The engineer will also explain that you need several specific parts commissioned from a dwarf.

Part 2:
Making the catapult

Step 2
Make the catapult parts.
Head to the dwarf area on ice mountain.
Speak to Rolad.
Head to Port Sarim
Speak to Thaki.
Search the sleeping sailor, wear his hat.
Take the package for Thaki.

Zybez RuneScape Help's Screenshot of the sleeping sailorWith 10 mahogany planks and 90 mithril nails in your inventory, create the catapult parts by reading the schematics. Then, head to Ice Mountain and speak to Rolad the dwarf who is at the dwarf camp in front of the peak, near the Barbarian Village. When asked, Rolad will claim that he has already sent the parts to Tyras Camp but they obviously have not reached the destination yet. He worries that something sinister has happened to his helper taking the delivery, and asks you to head over to Port Sarim to investigate.

You can use an amulet of glory and teleport to Draynor Village to get there quickly, otherwise the run down from Ice Mountain is not too long. Alternatively, use the Home teleport spell and teleport to the Port Sarim lodestone if you have unlocked that. The delivery dwarf Thaki can be found in the pub at Port Sarim. Ask him if he has the package and he will refuse to give it to you as he is keeping it safe before handing it over to a ship. He is too drunk to comprehend your comments to him explaining the situation, and he will only be tricked into believing that you are a sailor if you have 'one of them funny hats.' Just outside the door facing onto the docks from the pub there is a sleeping drunk sailor, search him and take his hat. Put on the sailor hat and ask Thaki for the package, this time he will agree - convinced that the hat makes you a true sailor.

Step 3
Head back to Tyras Camp.
Speak to the guard and build the catapult.
Hit the targets and speak to the guard.

Zybez RuneScape Help's Screenshot of the aiming system Once you have the parts, head back to the Tyras Camp and speak with the catapult guard. You can take the ship directly from Port Sarim at no more cost than any other location. Say that you have all the parts to build the catapult now and a screen will appear. You need to fit all of your pieces exactly into the spaces, like in a game of Tetris. Remember that you have to do both sides of the catapult with the same parts.

Note: The correct arrangement can be seen (Here).

After you have built the catapult, speak to the guard again. He will explain that you just need to make sure that the catapult is working by aiming it at three targets. An interface will appear and you will need to simply adjust the strength and angle of the shot to hit the stones dead on. This is comparatively easier than the puzzle, and on completion speak to the catapult guard and complete the quest.
