Talk to Kennith in Witchaven. Go to the shrine and talk to Villagers.
Talk to Kennith again.
Talk to Kennith's parents who are east of the church.
Meet Kent at the Legends' Guild.
Talk to Kennith, a child in the house most west in Witchaven. He will ask you to investigate the strange happenings under Witchaven. Proceed to the dungeon marked on the mini-map, west of the house surrounded by some ruins. Go into the dungeon and then enter the hidden door on the right, and walk through until you reach the the mine entrance by following the path, climbing over some rocks near the end. The route can be shortened by taking the agility shortcut near the first turning. Talk to the Villagers guarding the mine entrance, they will speak of the "glorious work" being worked on. If you try to enter the cavern they will forbid you (Picture). Head back to Kennith; notice that when you climb back over the rocks there will be a cut-scene of some debris barely missing you (Picture). Return to Kennith and speak to him, and he will seem uninterested in the strange project occupying the villagers and will be more focused on why his parents are not spending time with him.
Go find Kennith's parents who just east of the church, standing next to it's wall. They will seem nervous to talk to you, and will dart off leaving you with a note (Picture). Read their message and follow its instructions to meet Kent outside the entrance to the Legends' Guild. He will talk about Kennith being very demanding and send you off to check on his friend Kimberly, who Kennith dislikes.
Trap the Villagers in the Church.
Follow Kimberly around helping her.
Speak to Kimberly who is in the most northern house in Witchaven, not far south of the guild entrance. She will be very scared and will ask you to go around Witchaven with her in search of her parents. Agree to help her. There will be a cut-scene of the villagers surrounding her house, taunting her to come out (Picture). She will be obviously frightened and she asks you to lure them into the church and lock them in. Do so by simply walking up to all of the villagers around the perimeter of the house, lead them into the church and then run to the door and shut them in. Return to Kimberly once the villagers are locked in the church. She will feel brave enough to venture out of the house. Follow her over to Kennith in his home.
She will ask Kennith about the whereabouts of her parents. Following this, there will be another cut-scene of the villagers banging on the walls again. She will then ask you once more to lock them up in the church. Follow the same procedure as last time, and lock the villagers in the church. Return to Kimberly in Kennith's house.
Kimberly will lead you to Ezekial Lovecraft who is the owner of the fishing shop on the coast of Witchaven. You will talk to him about the strange happenings in Witchaven, and he will eventually leave to help you get into the new mining site.
Overheating the Villagers
Talk to Kimberly.
Talk to Ezekial.
Talk to a guard.
Mine through the western wall.
Go south, west, north and pull lever.
Go through door.
Speak to Ezekial.
Mine red patch on wall.
Put rubium on vents.
Go through door.
Talk to Kimberly again and then head down to the dungeon. You will meet up with Ezekial who will tell you to talk to the guards.
Speak to one of the guards. Ezekial will jump into the conversation when needed and convince them to allow you inside. Once inside, talk to Ezekial again. He will look around and tell you to enter the northern door. Upon entering the room you will find yourself in a miniaturized version of the game. When all the workers on the three tracks at the centre have turned their backs, run straight south and hide behind the wall at the bottom. Next, when the two workers behind the other wall move out and are past you, run into one of the crevices. Let the two workers walk past once and talk. As soon as they turn around prospect the wall, mine it, and enter the gap.
Once you enter the hole, you will find yourself on a cart track in a narrow corridor (Picture). Head south, west, then north, following the track west and pull the lever at the end. Ezekial will join you in the corridor. Lead him to the door adjacent to where you mined through on the other side of the tunnel, and open it.
You are now in a room with Kennith's parents in it. Speak to Ezekial. He will check the door and will tell you to enter the next room and search for rubium. He believes that if you mine it and put it in a steam vent it will create enough heat to overwhelm the workers. Step through the door and you will again find yourself in a miniature version of the game (Picture). There will be four miners at the centre of the room. When they are all at the column at the centre, run to the nearest cart on the north track and hide behind it. Wait for them to move out and back again to the pillar. Now run to the furthest ore steam behind the wall and mine it. If you try to mine any other spots you will be seen! Immediately after mining the first ore, run to the ore on the eastern wall and mine that as well, the rock wall should prevent the villagers from spotting you. Now turn around and when the villagers are not looking, mine the remaining on the northern wall and run back behind the wall. From behind the wall, run and crouch behind the western cart when they are not looking. When you get the chance, run quickly and use an ore on the steam vent closest to you and hide back behind the cart. Run back behind the wall, and doing the same method crouch behind the northern cart, put ore in the north-western steam vent and hide behind the western cart. Now you are on the western wall, when they aren't looking mine the rubium closest to you and run behind the wall. When they aren't looking put rubium in the nearby vent, and then once again when they have turned to the column run behind the cart, then when you have the chance put the last rubium in the final vent. Once you have done so the villagers will collapse, allowing you to enter the door on the other side of the room
Speak to Ezekial again. He will peak through the door and tell you yet again to place rubium in the steam vents. When the two workers in the first section aren't looking, run and break the rock between the two areas, wait in the gap made. When the guard at the north column has begun to walk around, and the guard at the door isn't looking follow the north guard around, mining the ore as you go. When you have the ores, wait for the door guard to turn around and then run south and quickly put the ore in the nearby vent. When the door guard isn't looking run back to the gap between the two walls where you are safe. Run back to door you came in, when the two villagers aren't looking put ores in the northern vents. When they are back down, run to the second mine cart and crouch behind it. When they aren't looking put the ore in the remaining steam vent. Once the villagers are knocked out proceed to the door on the other side of the room.
Speak to Clive and Katherine.
Speak to Kennith.
Speak to Kimberly.
Retrieve the train.
Use train on Kennith.
You will find yourself in a room with a man and a woman (Clive and Katherine) mining a rock. Speak to them and they will explain that they are being controlled like puppets. As Kimberly's parents they are concerned about her safety, so agree to go and check on her. Ezekial will remind you that Kennith may be in danger back in Witchaven. Head back the way you came through the tunnels.
When you reach the start of the mining tunnels, you will find Kennith waiting for you. Speak to him and in a cut-scene it will be revealed that he has caused the enslavement in Witchhaven all because Kimberly lost his favourite toy train. He will then trap Kimberly, and if you try to speak to him he will shock you. Kimberly will say that she lost it somewhere (it's random for everyone. Ezekial will tell you to search for the train.
You will find the train in the place Kimberly specified to you. It can be on the southern coast by the water behind the house with a clay oven, behind Ezekial's house, or near the Mayor's house (Picture). Pick it up and return to Kennith. Use the train on Kennith back in the caves. After a short dialogue, Ezekial will tell you that if you ever come across rubium he will buy it off of you. Kennith and his parents will return to living on the fishing platform, just before the end Kennith will say that the queen is coming for you, hinting to the next Slug quest.
Note: If you bring rope, spade, leather boots, a tinderbox, or a knife (depends on what they ask for) to Kimberly's parents after completing the quest, they will give you 2 coal.
