An ancient avian of fiery disposition is in need of your help! Returning to its roost after a long time away from home, the phoenix encountered some trouble. Now it waits, weak and dying, isolated from the world. By chance, a priest with a suspicious amount of knowledge about the phoenix has appeared near its roost, and he is searching for an adventurer with the skills and the mettle to venture forth and aid the phoenix in its hour of need.

Part 1:
Saving the Phoenix

Step 1
Speak to the Priest.
Gather the tools.

Talk to the Priest of Guthix outside the cave south-west of the Piscatoris Fishing Colony (Picture). Note that you can easily get there with Fairy Ring code AKQ. He'll tell you that the cave is the residence of the phoenix, and that said phoenix needs your assistance. The end of the phoenix life is near, but if you complete a ritual, its life can continue. Agree to complete the ritual for the phoenix.

Ask about the phoenix, then about the ritual. Tell him you want his supplies and you'll be handed a pair of secateurs, a knife, and a tinderbox to complete the ritual.

Step 2
Harvest the twigs.
Use knife on twigs and twigs on pyre.
Light pyre.
Speak to Phoenix.
Escape cave and speak to Brian Twitcher.

Items needed: Secateurs, Knife, Tinderbox

Enter the cave. Harvest cinnamon twigs from the north end of the cave. Enter the door on the north-east corner of the cave. Harvest sassafras twigs in the north and go through the door at the north-west corner of the cave. Harvest ailanthus twigs from the central part of the cave and go through the door at the north-west corner. Harvest the cedar twigs from the east part of the cave and proceed through the door in the north-west corner. Harvest mastic twigs from north end of the cave and go through the north-west door.

Use your knife on all of the twigs to turn them into wooden ribbons. Use the ribbons on the pyre and the phoenix will climb onto the pyre. Use your tinderbox on the pyre and the phoenix will burn then return smaller. Talk to the phoenix and he'll give you 5 quills to make Summoning pouches with and tell you that if you have level 51 Slayer, you may come back once a day to challenge him for 5 additional quills.

Escape the cave and talk to the Priest. You'll receive your reward and complete the quest.

Fight the Phoenix

If you have level 51 Slayer, you may return to the phoenix's lair once a day. However, the warriors in the caves are very strong aggressive monsters that can block your path. In many situations, you'll have to kill them in order to gather the twigs you need. However, they often drop gold (in excess of 1000) or charms. Once you have all the twigs, fletch them into ribbons again and use them on the pyre again. If you leave or teleport out of the lair, you'll lose the twigs and will have to collect them all over again. The phoenix will appear in a multicombat area. It's Level-235 and attacks with Magic. It can easily hit 200's so you'll want to bring prayer restore potions to use the Protect from Magic Prayer against it. Once you've defeated it, it will enter the pyre where you can set it aflame. The phoenix will reincarnate smaller and you can talk to him again to get 5 more quills and 5,000 Slayer XP. After killing the phoenix again in the future, you'll receive 5 quills, 500 Slayer XP instead of 5,000. You will also receive 7,500 Firemaking XP, 3,000 Fletching XP and 1,000 Crafting XP.
