Be introduced to Yewnock's most ingenious calibration device to date, and gain a unique insight into life within underground Arposandra, as you investigate the fate of the prisoner of Glouphrie!
Part 1:
Meet Golrana
Step 1
Talk to Golrie and Golrana
Meet Golrana north of the Observatory
Visit Golrie in his cave within the Tree Gnome Village. The entrance is just east past the loose railings, south of the Spirit tree in the heart of the village, and is marked as a dungeon, with a '!' symbol on the minimap. Once inside, talk to Golrie and choose to help him after reading a letter he shows you. His grandfather, Bolrie, had travelled west towards the elven lands to track down Glouphrie. Ask him what he plans to do next; he will speak of his mother Golrana, who is currently nearby in the center of the village, and lead you to her.
Once upstairs, Golrie will introduce you to her. After a short while, she will ask of Golrie's letter from Bolrie, which he has been keeping as a bookmark. She will decide to rescue him and tell you to meet her by the Galarpos mountains, which is north of the Observatory and south of the entrance to the ZMI altar. The easiest way there is to use the Spirit tree nearby to teleport to the Khazard Battlefield, then run south-west. At any time, you may also use a Ring of duelling to teleport to the Castle Wars lobby, and then travel there.
You will see Golrana waiting by some passable plants. Talk to her to get past, then head west then north towards a dead tree with a 'search' option. Search it to reveal a hidden tunnel which you can enter.
Part 2:
Galarpos caverns
Step 1
Navigate the tunnels
Enter Lletya
Once inside, you will see a ledge to the south of an impassable gap. Investigate it, and Golrana will explain it is too fragile for you to step on. She will get over and lasso the rock to form a tightrope for you to cross. Continue south through the tunnels and jump over the three gaps separating the platforms, then go north to a small river with some stepping stones. Investigate the crevice to send Golrana to the other side.
From the start, jump over the stepping stones in this order: north, north, east, north, west, and finally north. Note that you can only jump directly towards stones that are either one or two spaces away. Head north and follow the bend round to the south. Finally, climb through the crevice at the end of the tunnel.
Go west then south until you see a Sturdy tree near the ledge with an 'investigate' option. Investigate it to throw a rope down the hill and climb down. You will now arrive at Lletya and converse with Ilfeen, where Golrana introduces herself as Bolrie's daughter. Ilfeen will show you the way to Bolrie's home, which is under a trapdoor in the sheep pen by the General store.
Part 3:
Bolrie's device
Step 1
Read the book then search the crates
Complete the calibration puzzle
Inside, Bolrie is not to be seen. Instead, he has left several things in his room: a rotatable Prism, some elven lamps around the room's walls (one of which can be removed), a crystal bowl, some crates with various supplies, and finally a handwritten book.

Note: You do not need to revert your Crystal chime or Crystal saw at the bowl here to retrieve your seed; some will be provided for you.
Take the handwritten book that is lying on the crate by the ladder and read it. You do not need to read the whole book; simply close the interface straight after. Search the furniture around the room (crates, shelves, the picture, and the lamp on the wall) to gather the device supplies. They will be placed on the table by the ladder for you. There is also a crate containing Minute crystal seeds, but only 3 can be held at once, so search for some one by one.
Go to the table where all the supplies have been sent and construct the calibration box by choosing the 'build' option on the crate. You will be using this to complete the rest of the puzzle.

To complete the puzzle, you will need to match the required intensities and colours shown on the top of the screen by inserting the right shapes into the box's slots.
The crystal bowl in the room can be used to transform Minute crystal seeds that are picked up from the crate into coloured crystal shapes, using its 'sing-glass' option. Which shape it forms is determined by filling the bowl with water using the bowl's 'fill' option. Doing this once adds 20% into the bowl, and choosing to 'empty' also removes 20%. Different shapes can be sung depending on how full the bowl is:
- 0% filled - turn the crystal into a circle
- 20% - almond
- 40% - triangle
- 60% - square
- 80% - pentagon
- 100% - hexagon
In addition, the crystal's colour will change into that of the light reflected on the glass bowl. The Prism can be rotated either clockwise or anti-clockwise to reflect different coloured lights onto the bowl, the colours being: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Rotating it clockwise makes the colours revolve in this order. Taking an example, filling 40% of the bowl with water and reflecting yellow light on it will allow you to create yellow triangle shapes.
Tip: Examine the bowl to find out how full and what colour light is currently reflected on it. This is especially helpful for those who are colourblind and cannot see the colours properly.
A coin's intensity is measured by their colour (red is 1, violet is 7) and the number of sides it has (circle is 1, hexagon is 6). Multiplying their colour and number of sides gives the intensity of that particular coin. The total intensity that result from two coins is simply the sum of their intensities. For example, an orange almond has an intensity value of 4; multiply the value from its colour which is 2 with the number of sides, in this case 2, to get 4.
The box will tell you if the intensity is too low or high by showing an arrow that points up if it is too low, and down if it is too high. The target colour is also shown, e.g. cyan or magenta. You must match both the intensity and colour with only 2 crystal shapes on each of the 3 sections of the box. The colour currently mixed is shown. Click on either of the two slots on the top to insert them, and press the slot on the bottom to retrieve them. Colours are made based on these instructions:
- Cyan - equal amounts of blue and green (e.g. blue almond and green almond)
- Magenta
- equal amounts of blue and red (e.g. red triangle and blue triangle)
- red triangle and indigo square
- red and twice the amount of violet (e.g. red circle and violet almond)
- Yellow
- equal amounts of red and green (e.g. red square and green square)
- green and twice the amount of orange (e.g. green circle and orange almond)
- any yellow (any two yellow shapes acceptable)
- White - same amount of two colours on opposite ends of the colour wheel (any combination of: blue and orange, green and red, yellow and indigo)
Part 4:
Glouphrie's prisoner
Step 1
Climb down the air vent
Investigate the tortoises
Rescue Bolrie
Once you have calibrated the box, meet Golrana in Lletya's bank. Talk to her to head back up the hill to the Galarpos mountains. Scout the nearby area for anything suspicious (don't go back into the tunnel by the dead tree) by simply heading a little to the east. An air vent will be found that wasn't discovered before. Open it to attach a rope to it and climb down. A cutscene will play, revealing several gnomes training and preparing for battle. Continue, and you will fall into the chute into a new room with several mining tortoises, while Golrana will have separated from you. Get near one of them to investigate them further, then go back up the stairs.
You will need to navigate this floor to find Golrana. Go east until you find a rotatable watcher. Get behind it and rotate it to face the wall, then enter the room with the warped terrorbird guard in it, who is named Guard no. 103. Tell it that you are Glouphrie disguised as a human, and it will get out of the room. You will find Bolrie inside one of the cells. Pick the lock on the door and talk to him. He will ask you several questions, and the answers are as follows:
- The name of the elf who helped you is Ilfeen
- The letter was addressed to Gena
- 42 different coins can be made using the singing bowl
- You don't remember what the picture on the wall of his room was
Bolrie will now follow you, and you will have to take him out of the place. Go west towards the narrow tunnel past the watcher and open the door. A cutscene will play showing a machine that warps the terrorbirds. As you and Golrana are watching, the alarm is triggered and you, together with Bolrie, escape to the surface. Push the boulder onto the vent by choosing to 'push' it, then talk to Golrana.
Touchingly, she will finally be reunited with her father after many years of separation. Talk to her again to go back to Tree Gnome Village. Congratulations, quest complete!

A: Next to the Fruit tree Farming patch by the maze entrance.
