Thormac at the Sorcerer's Tower recently discovered a book in his collection that he didn't recognize, all about the fabled Elemental Workshop. As he'd heard that this was something you're researching, and he's more 'mystic' and this book's all 'cosmic', he'd love for you to pop by to pick it up.

Part 1:
Introduction

Step 1: Seers' Village
Search the bookcase in Sorcerer's Tower
Make the keyblade

Search the bookcase on the ground floor of the Sorcerer's Tower south of Seers' Village to receive a Notched book. Head to the ground floor of the workshop, but before you enter the odd wall, use your knife on the whetstone near the entrance to make a Keyblade. Go through the wall and go down the staircases to the bottom-most floor of the workshop where the Mind and Body door is. Use your Keyblade with the door and it will unlock, destroying it in the process.

Part 2:
Cosmic puzzle

Step 2: Inside the workshop
Cosmic puzzle

Enter the door labeled the Cosmic door and make sure you have your Primed bars with you. Once in the room, operate the control panel in the south-east corner. (Picture) The goal of this puzzle is to get all the shots blasted from the emitters to pass through the pillars without them stopping at one (Picture). In order to do this, you must place the correct runes in the emitters so that they blast the correct type of shot at the pillars, rotate the pillars so they are correctly positioned, and move the emitters up and down until they all match.

Emitters can shoot different coloured shots based on the rune attached to them; it will fire red if a fire rune is attached to it, brown for earth, blue for water, and white for air. Shots will only pass through a pillar if they pass through a hole of the same colour, e.g. a red shot from an emitter with a fire rune will only pass through red holes. The best way to complete this puzzle is to aim to get one emitter's shot to pass through, changing the runes on the emitters and rotating the pillars in order to do this, then slowly work on getting the others to pass.

At first, the puzzle is fairly easy since it starts with only four pillars in a 2 by 2 square, and there is only one pillar level to work with. Once the shots successfully pass through all four pillars, there will then be 9 pillars in a 3 by 3 square with 2 pillar levels, and finally the puzzle will contain 16 pillars in a 4 by 4 square with 3 pillar levels. Note that at some point, you may have to change the runes on the walls for them to match.

Operate the draining machine and a cut scene will occur showing an automaton being brought to life, where it will proceed to open the Chaos door. Before you move on, use a Primed bar with the machine, charge it by operating the control panel, and finally drain it to receive a Cosmic bar. Go upstairs to the floor with the workbenches and make a pair of Cosmic gloves. Again, before you go back downstairs to the Chaos room, make sure you have another Primed bar with you as you will need it.

Part 3:
Chaos puzzle

Step 3: Inside the workshop Part 2
Chaos puzzle

Now that the Chaos room is unlocked, enter the door. When you enter the Chaos Room, be sure to pick up A Shabby Book with the Chaos symbol on the cover. This is in the north-west corner of the room on a table. Read this book before you continue; this gives you the information you need to make Chaos Boots. In the center of the room is a machine with 6 levers. The two levers facing south will operate the RAM's pushers to push the blocks onto the belt that leads to the CPU. The other four levers will move the conveyor belt either clockwise or anti-clockwise. The top one moves the whole belt 5 steps anti-clockwise, the next moves everything 1 step anti-clockwise. The next lever will move everything 1 step clockwise, and finally the last lever will move everything 5 steps clockwise.

The conveyor belt has several blocks on it, some of them coloured red and the rest yellow. You must instruct the robot to perform certain actions in order to gain access to the Chaos machine behind a wall. To control the robot, you must place the blocks into the two slots in the CPU. To place them, use the levers that control the RAM's pushers to push them into the CPU. The left side of it must be inserted with a block representing one of the commands, which are: Get, Put, Operate, and Break. The second slot should contain a block with rune symbols on it, which represent the locations of the slabs on the ground.

Order the automaton to perform the following actions by filling the CPU with these blocks:

  • Get, Nature
  • Put, Mind
  • Break, Law
  • Get, Body
  • Put, Mind
  • Get, Cosmic
  • Put, Mind
  • Get, Fire
  • Put, Water

Now take the blank slab and carve it (using a Hammer and Chisel). Place the carved slab on the Astral slab that is broken.

  • Get, Astral
  • Put, Mind
  • Break, Earth
  • Operate, Chaos

Note: If you insert the wrong blocks into the CPU and the command fails, simply repeat the step. The whole puzzle does not need to be re-done.

With the Cosmic gloves you made earlier equipped, activate the Chaos machine with a Primed bar on the table. Take the newly created Chaos bar from it afterwards and be sure to take the Shabby book from the table in the Chaos room, then go upstairs and use it on one of the workbenches to receive Chaos boots. Congratulations, quest complete!
