Part 1:
Exploring the Mine
Step 1
Talk to Zealot
Pickpocket Zealot
Climb over cart and crawl down tunnel
To start the quest talk to the Zealot located a few paces north of the Abandoned Mine. He will ask you to state your allegiance. Say that you follow the path of Saradomin, then say you come seeking challenges and quests. Finally ask him what kind of quest he has.
Next, pickpocket the Zealot to get a Zealot's Key; you will need it later. Go south-east of the Zealot and you will find a track with many mine carts on it. Climb over the last one, and you will be at the entrance to the mine. Crawl down the tunnel.

Use fungus on cart
Head west, following the tracks to another cart tunnel with a ladder near it (Picture), ignore the ladder and crawl through the tunnel.Once out of the mine, head south to another tunnel and go through it. From there, head east, then north to another ladder. Once again, head east and climb down the ladder.
From this ladder, head north-west and you will see a track with a mine cart on it. The mine cart will move up and down the track. Hide in crevasses in the wall and wait for the mine cart to pass before you go; head south and climb down the ladder next to the mine.
From this room, head west and pick some glowing fungus from the water (Picture). Since there is a chance of failing, pick more than one glowing fungus just in case. Head north-west to another mine cart, and use the glowing fungus with it. The fungus is needed to be able to see further on in the cave; if you were to take one outside it would turn to ash - thus the following step.

Climb down ladder, step 4.
Go north-west and look at the point settings (Picture), you will need it to look like this:
To do this you will need to pull the levers to change the arrows. There are two groups of levers, one north of the point settings (Picture),which has levers I, J, K, H, G, and F. The other is east of the settings (Picture), which has letters A, B, C, D, and E.
Pull them until it looks like the second picture in step 3, then press the START button. Each time you pull a lever, the dark and red arrows on the settings will switch, also keep in mind that the settings will not reset if you log out or leave the area. If done correctly, it will show a small animation of the cart moving and going toward the ladder. If done incorrectly, the cart will just go into the water. If it does this, the fungus you put in the cart will be gone, and you will need to replace it and redo the levers until it works.
Retrace your steps all the way to the first floor, and take the ladder that you ignored earlier in step 2 and climb down that one.

This room has many flickering ghosts called Hazes and level 1 rats in it. Ignore them and go north-east to another ladder, and climb down.
Head west past the first two intersections, then to the north; you will find yet another ladder to climb down. You will now be on an island with a mine cart and a track that leads out into the water; search it and you will find the fungus you placed in it earlier; take it.
Now climb back up the ladder. Now that you have the fungus, go all the way east to another mine cart which guards a room; avoid it and climb down the ladder there.
Part 3:
Taking the Key...

Take east road, down path
Head south and you will find a large structure that splits into two paths. Take the east one, going south, until you find a water valve (Picture). If you try and turn it you will find that it's locked. Here's where the Zealot's Key comes in. Use it, and the valve will turn. Now go back to the structure and take the west path. Head all the way south and you will find a lift (Picture); take it.
Note: make sure you run fast from the turning of the valve to the lift, because if you don't, a ghost will turn it off and the lift won't work.
After you swim off the lift, head south and you will find a road with two paths, going west and east. Go east and down the stairs and prepare to fight the ghost.

Items required: Chisel.
Head west past the door into a large room, there is an innocent looking key on one of the crates, attempt to take it and the Treus Dayth will appear. Once he appears all the machines will come to life and start to attack you, along with flying axes. Be aware of the moving carts while fighting Treus Dayth, as they can cause severe damage. Super restore potions are recommended while fighting Treus Dayth, as he will lower your stats.
If you are going to use melee, you should obtain 100% energy before picking up the innocent key since the ghost will teleport around the room at random. This will give you only one or two chances to attack him before he becomes insubstantial and floats to another part of the room. Bringing a ranged weapon or using high leveled spells would be much easier than simply fighting it with melee, since he tends to force you to go through things that will hurt you. Protect from range does not work as he will fling pickaxes at you. Slayer dart is also very effective, but remember that 55 slayer is required for this. Cannons cannot be used.
Once you defeat him, take the key. Next go back up the stairs and head west to some more stairs, walk down them.
Open the large doors south of the stairs and head south-east, you will find a large area with many crystals in it, cut one of them (if you don't have a chisel there are a few by the lift, on crates) and you will get a salve shard in your inventory.

A: Use a ball of wool with a salve shard.
A: Yes you can, but you must first drop the current shard in your inventory before attempting to obtain another one.
A: Pickpocket the Zealot to get another one.
A: You need to bring the glowing mushroom down there. You must bring the mushroom every time; you do not need to pick new mushrooms or change the tracks, just start the cart rolling through the tracks.
A: You need to defeat Tarn Razorlor.
